Pokémon player has achieved every collector’s dream after more than 15 years

There are many challenges that Pokémon trainers can face. One trainer on Reddit has successfully completed an incredible task – after many, many years.

In the Pokémon series of games, there are many challenges that trainers can face. While some trainers focus on battling and improving their teams, other trainers devote themselves to Nuzlocke or Randomizer challenges, where they play the games with different rules or Pokémon than the original ones.

Challenges in which coaches have to complete all the content in a game are now also being completed by coaches.

A trainer from Reddit has now completed one of the longest and toughest challenges. It is a challenge that he says he has been working on for 15 years.

15 years and tens of thousands of hours of gameplay

What kind of challenge is it? As the trainer shows on Reddit, he has built a so-called Living Dex entirely out of shiny Pokémon. A Living Dex is about owning all Pokémon with all their development stages.

The special thing about his Living Dex is that all Pokémon are shiny. Shiny ones appear with a fairly low chance, so collecting these variants is more difficult.

Collecting a single, specific shiny specimen can be a lengthy process. Collecting all Pokémon and their evolutions as shiny is a huge task that requires a lot of time.

How long did it take him? According to his own statements, the trainer has been playing Pokémon for 23 years. He started collecting shiny Pokémon with the 4th generation, which was released in Japan in 2006 and in the rest of the world in 2007 and 2008 for the Nintendo DS.

To complete this special Pokédex, he has invested tens of thousands of hours across the main series games and Pokémon GO.

Where does he store the collection? The trainer stores his Living Dex on Pokémon HOME. The service offers the possibility of transferring monsters between the various Pokémon games on the Switch. Pokémon from the older Nintendo DS titles and Pokémon GO can also be transferred to HOME, but not back.

Which Pokémon is the trainer missing? According to the trainer, he is still missing some forms of Pokémon that he is still working on. The trainer is also missing Manaphy as a shiny. This is because it is incredibly difficult and time-consuming to get this Pokémon as a shiny.

Trainer PuppeteerGaming_ comments that you can only get one Manaphy egg per Pokémon Ranger cartridge. If you trade this egg to a 4th generation game, it depends on the game’s ID whether Manaphy hatches as a shiny or not. It can therefore take many new saves until a shiny Manaphy appears this way.

What do you think of the trainer’s impressive performance? Are you also a shiny collector? If so, how big is your collection? Let us know in the comments. In another long-running, albeit relatively easy, challenge, a player in Pokémon GO: Trainer takes on a challenge that takes him 7 years to complete.
