The road collapsed in front of them: “Shit, we’re not going anywhere”

Johanna Shaw was traveling on the E45 with her family when she saw large amounts of water on the road.

– We then thought that we would take the small route. But there the road collapsed just a few cars in front of us, she says.

After a while, the road behind the family’s car also collapsed.

– We haven’t gotten anywhere. We have taken over the children on foot. The car and caravan remain because the risk of collision is far too great.

Between 20 and 30 vehicles are stuck between the bodies of water, according to the rescue service. The large amounts of rain have also led to several properties being affected, and the rescue service has received around 20 alarms about flooding from various homes and addresses in Lilla Edet.

Sanjin Harbas lives in the immediate area. First he noticed that it was starting to rain heavily. Then he discovered that large amounts of water had collected outside his home.

– I was told by others that it has entered their basement. It’s terrible, he says.
