Putin warns of missile crisis

On Sunday, Vladimir Putin spoke in front of Russian, Chinese, Algerian and Indian marines in Saint Petersburg.

Putin warned, among other things, that the US plans to place long-range robots in Germany.

“The flight time against targets on our territory with such missiles, which in the future may be nuclear-armed, will be around ten minutes,” Putin said, warning that American missiles in Germany risk leading to a Cold War-style missile crisis.

Putin also highlighted that Russia will take similar measures and place warheads near the West if the US goes ahead with its plans.

Both American and Russian diplomats have previously expressed that the relationship between the countries is worse than during the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962, reports Reuters. The parties have called for calm, but at the same time have taken steps that risk escalating the disagreement.
