The evils have been the main opponents since the first part of the Diablo series. But which of them is actually the strongest? MeinMMO dares to go into the hells and puts all the demonic lords into a power ranking.
This is how we created the ranking: For our ranking, we only consider the “evils”, i.e. the seven beings that emerged directly from the primordial demon Tathamet. This is why you won’t find some well-known characters, such as Inarius and Lilith, Sanctuary’s parents.
For their place in the ranking we have taken the following criteria into account:
The ranking is based purely on the strength of the evils in Diablo’s lore, not on how difficult they actually are to defeat in the game.
Do you want to know more about the lore? The Book of Lorath is a good source:
7th place: Duriel
Duriel is driven by pain – no matter who inflicts it. Accordingly, he tortures humans, demons and angels alike, and if he can’t find anyone else who screams loud enough, he tortures himself. His iconic weapons include poisons and diseases.
This makes him the weakest evil in our rankings because he has little interest in true power as long as someone is suffering. In addition, his strongest weapons have little to no effect against many demons and angels and are only really effective against humans. He would probably not be interested in ruling over the hells at all.
In Diablo 4, Duriel appears as a boss and can be defeated by the protagonist without any major problems. He simply comes back at some point to torment other people.
6th place: Andariel
The only female evil is considered Duriel’s “sister” and is only slightly above her brother in the rankings. Like Duriel, she wants to cause suffering above all else, but unlike the Master of Pain, Andariel relies primarily on mental torture.
Accordingly, she would not harm herself just to satisfy her greed, and her weapons are somewhat more universal. Andariel would at least be superior to Duriel in the battle for the Hells, but all other evils are still ahead of her.
In Diablo 4, Andariel appears in a bound form, but is still able to defend herself better than Duriel. She manages to break free from her chains, showing in some ways more strength than her brother.
5th place: Belial
The Liar Lord from Diablo 3 works primarily with deceit and intrigue – and is also an extremely formidable fighter. With his deceptions, he manages to take over an entire human empire, showing that he has the potential to gain great power unnoticed.
Because he is a master of deception, you can never really tell whether you have really defeated him or whether his apparent defeat is just part of Belial’s plan. This makes him a dangerous opponent. However, he only comes in fifth place in the rankings because other evils can still outdo him even in his domain.
