SJK and FC Lahti organized a wild goal celebration in Veikkauslliga football. The match ended 5–5. Series jumbo Lahti was close to a giant surprise, but SJK’s Rasmus Karjalainen scored an equalizing goal from a free kick in extra time. SJK is second in the series.

The match remained even, as neither team was once in the lead by two goals. SJK scored two goals Kasper Paananen and Lahti Michael Lopez.

The victory would have been only Lahti’s second of the season and first since the beginning of May. The team has now played 11 matches without a win.

– This result is a huge disappointment for us, because we are running out of time. Besides, we were already close to winning. However, I am proud of the level of our effort and the fact that we scored five goals, comments the head coach of Lahti Ricardo Duarte.

– We didn’t do the basic things properly: blocked shots, prevented counterattacks or came to the defense quickly enough. We shouldn’t concede five goals on our home field, said SJK’s head coach Stevie Grieve.

This season saw a ten-goal match already in April, when Gnistan claimed victory over Ilves with 6–4 goals.

In the second match of the day, HJK beat AC Oulu 3–0. HJK continues at the top of the league.
