Mortal Kombat 1 presents new characters

After the first character pass with Takeda was completed, Mortal Kombat 1 presents the new content for the second year. This includes not only new characters, but also a story mode and a new type of finisher.

What is the status of Mortal Kombat 1? In September 2023, the latest installment in the Mortal Kombat series was released with the somewhat confusing title Mortal Kombat 1. In addition to many well-known characters, a character pass was also announced. This contained six characters, including guests such as Peacemaker, Omni-Man and the well-known Homelander, who immediately won the hearts of fans.

The last character, Takeda, has now been released and in a new trailer, Mortal Kombat 1 shows what’s in store for fighting game fans in the future. And that’s a lot.

You can see the very explicit trailer here:

Old acquaintances, Ghostface and Arnie again

What is shown in the trailer? The first part of the trailer introduces a new chapter of the story mode. A powerful Havik variant was already hinted at at the end of the main game and now we see that he threatens the entire multiverse.

We also see the first new characters that we already know from previous parts of the series. On Havik’s side is the fan favorite Noob Saibot, who you could already play in Mortal Kombat 11. There are also Cyrax and Sektor, two fighters with a kind of Iron Man suit. You could also play them in previous parts.

The other three DLC fighters are much more exciting. Firstly, there is Ghostface from the Scream series. Once again there is Arnold Schwarzenegger, this time as Conan. And once again there is a Terminator, this time the T-1000 from Terminator 2. You could already play Schwarzenegger in Mortal Kombat 11, back then as the Terminator.

A horror film character is also nothing new for the franchise. Mortal Kombat X, for example, already featured Jason, Leatherface and the Xenomorph (Alien).

There are also some free items. Animalities are also returning for fans of the series. Fatalities are the series’ finishers, in which the opponent is killed in a brutal way. In Animalities, the characters turn into animals and kill their opponents. The characters and the new story mode must be purchased. Animalities are coming as a free update for everyone.
