The masked torch bearer who walked along the rooftops and buildings of Paris was the most artistic character of the opening of the Paris Olympics.
The person was dressed as a character from the Assassin’s Creed action adventure game series by the French game company Ubisoft.
A tip about identity has been received from the message service X. A master of parkour there Clement Dumais responded to the sports website’s question by writing: “I hope you enjoy this opening ceremony.”
Dumais is the winner of the 2019 World Chase Tag competition. It’s a parkour-based hippie race where competitors chase each other over obstacles in a small area.
But Dumais doesn’t seem to have been the only one tasked. There were probably many torch bearers. For example, a free runner Simon Nigueira has commented on the matter on social media.
– Of course I wasn’t everywhere. There were also other incredible artists behind this character, he writes.
The French race organizers have not revealed the identity of the running torch bearer.
Another masked figure was revealed
After the acrobatic run, the torch was carried along the Seine by a figure riding a metal horse.
His identity has been revealed. He was Floriane Issertan officer belonging to the police forces under the French Defense Forces.
The torch relay was started by a soccer player Zinedine Zidaneto whom the masked runner also handed over the fire-carrying torch at the end.
The opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics was directed by produced Thomas Jolly. The evening’s top performers included, among others Lady Gaga, Celine Dion and Aya Nakamura.
The Finnish contribution was seen and heard in other ways than in the athletes’ procession. We heard at the opening Daruden hit Sandstorm. The orchestra playing the Olympic anthem was led by a conductor Klaus Mäkelä. A Finnish violinist played in the orchestra Fredrika Mikkola.
