Strong reactions to the Armed Forces’ new uniform: “Terrible”

Strong reactions to the Armed Forces new uniform Terrible

The Reserve Forces’ new ground combat uniform MSU24 offers a greater variety of garments, better functionality against moisture and a more customizable fit.

The latter is hoped to contribute to better comfort, not least for the women in the Armed Forces.

– It is very clear with the new system, it should suit women just as well. Previously, you went to the warehouse and said your height and weight, and you got equipment based on that. Now the sizes are based on chest width and butt width, says Marvin Lifbomhead of the department Common equipment within the business area Logistics to The evening paper.

How many women work in the Armed Forces?

Currently, 26,000 people work within the Armed Forces on a daily basis. Of these, 24 percent are women and 76 percent are men.

This is a low percentage of women compared to many other Western countries – despite the fact that the EU has clear goals to get more women into the military.

– Among other things, it is considered important to create equal workplaces, but also for the practice of work – it is said that women can search women and that it is good when you meet women in countries where there are strong patriarchal systems. But there are also thoughts that women would create some kind of softer atmosphere in the group, says Fia Sundevallresearcher at Stockholm University and Sweden’s leading expert on gender issues and defence, in an interview on The website of the Armed Forces.

Despite the fact that the importance of having women in the defense has been established for many years, not everyone is positive about the issue.

It also became clear when News24 wrote a first article about the Armed Forces’ uniform earlier this week. Opinions differ in the comments section. Some were positive about the adaptations to the uniform:

“Isn’t there anything directly wrong with having tailored clothes. The better the fit, the more you can move.”

“Great”

“In today’s modern warfare, gender has zero meaning.”

Strong reactions to the new uniform: “Camouflaged skirt and blouse?”

Others were all the more skeptical:

“If they don’t get worse for the majority, that’s fine, but there’s a big IF there.”

“A woman’s best uniform is an apron standing in the kitchen.”

“Camouflage skirt and blouse?”

“Russia: – We attack Sweden. What do you have for defense? Sweden: – We have gender-appropriate military uniforms.”
