The opening ceremony of the Olympic Games will be broadcast live on the TV2 channel on Friday, July 26, starting at 8 p.m.
The French look like flight attendants
The French luxury brand Berluti designed tuxedos for the host country for the opening ceremony. The sliding coloring of the collars of the jacket follows the blue, white and red of the French flag.
The cut of the men’s jacket is classic. Not so much for women: their tuxedos lack sleeves.
The shoulder pads make the sleeveless Smock look cool. However, in case of hot weather in Tukala, the solution is functional.
Many fashion commentators on social media say that French outfits remind them of airplane cabin crew.
The US team dresses up as little old students
This year, the US athletes will be represented at the opening ceremony in Ralph Lauren blazers, striped collared shirts and light blue jeans.
The outfits are reminiscent of old-time Ivy League top university fashion. They make the athletes look like little old students.
The dark blue main color of the jackets and the white and red decorations remind us of the colors of the American flag.
Mongolia blew up Tiktok
Mongolian luxury clothing brand Michel & Amazonka designed an outfit for the country’s flag bearers, which blew up Tiktok. Many commentators on social media predict that Mongolia will win the Paris Olympics, at least in style.
Asymmetric robes resemble traditional kaftans. The dark blue collars have golden embroidery. The bodices are full of details, and the skirts pleat beautifully.
Accessories are not compromised either: contestants carry embroidered bags, belts, capes and striking earrings.
Czechs wear a painter’s coat
The most striking part of the Czech costume is the knee-length trench coat, or “hot air balloon coat” in Czech terms. [baloňák].
The white coat is decorated with blue patches, and it looks as if it served as a painter’s work coat. What could be more appropriate in Paris, known for fashion and visual arts.
Czech designer Jan Černý has created the whole in cooperation with the Alpine Pro outdoor clothing brand.
Australia also chose blazers
Australians wear blue-green blazers with the name of every Olympic champion in the country written on the lining.
The blazer can be combined with light linen shorts or a vekki skirt, the print of which is a tribute to indigenous peoples. Dazzling white sneakers seem to be always trendy in the sports world.
The whole thing reminds me of school uniforms.
The British trust the youth culture icon
The British Olympic costumes were designed by one of the country’s biggest clothing brands, Ben Sherman, who became one of the symbols of the alternative youth in the 1960s.
The Olympic outfits are Ben Sherman at his most typical. Athletes will wear knitted polo shirts with geometric blue-red patterns. A white bomber jacket with navy blue sleeves is worn over it.
The pants are chinos, the color of which is bold baby blue.
Haiti draws from the country’s visual arts
Haitian-Italian designer Stella Jean created straight trousers and full-length skirts for the representatives of Haiti, with a local visual artist printed on them by Philippe Dodard work.
As tops, the athletes wear blue collared shirts, women wear a white sleeveless blazer, and men wear a blue work jacket.
Finland arrives at the party in windbreakers
Rukka designed representative outfits for Finnish athletes, where practicality has clearly come first.
Short-sleeved baggy windbreakers are like a respite from the recession. The material and size of the pants, on the other hand, remind me of the cursed faija shorts.
The big logos of the Rukka brand disturb the otherwise patriotic blue and white color scheme.
Stylists Sami Sykkö and Jorma Uotinen liked the outfits on his podcast.
– My friend stated that there was obviously a desire to create outfits that are relatable to the viewers, says Sykkö.
Uotinen, on the other hand, characterizes the Finnish look with three words: “unimaginative, boring and ordinary”.
Sweden is represented in tracksuits
Swedes are also Scandinavian practical.
The clothes designed by the Japanese discount clothing chain Uniqlo are “3D-knitted”, that is, each piece of clothing is created seamlessly using one long thread. According to the manufacturer, the jackets are made to breathe well in the area of the armpits, chest and upper back.
Despite the fine technical implementation, the outfits look like normal tracksuits. Uniqlo’s logo breaks the otherwise calm color scheme of the Swedish flag.
What kind of representative outfit would you design for the Finnish team? You can comment until Thursday, July 25 at 11 p.m.
