With twelve qualified teams, the handball competition at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games will run for the entire Olympic fortnight, from July 25, the day before the opening ceremony, to Sunday, August 11, the final day of the competition. The French – both men and women – won the title at the last Games in Tokyo and are the team to beat at these Olympic Games on home soil. The two French teams are also among the favorites for the Olympic title this summer, since they have again won the last international competitions, the Euro last January for the men and the World Cup in December 2023 for the women.

Where will the handball events take place?
The preliminary rounds of handball took place at the Arena Paris Sud 6, from July 25 to August 4, then the final round was held at the Pierre Mauroy stadium in Lille. Handball has been one of the most watched sports at the Olympic Games for several editions. It is also one of the most competitive and prestigious competitions in this sport, for both men and women. Present at the Games since 1972 in its indoor version, handball is a sport dominated by European nations. For men, France has won the most Olympic titles, in 2008, 2012 and 2021. For women, the Danes have three gold medals, but it was the French who won in Tokyo in 2021.
