Google Messages will make your conversations more fun by integrating new filters for your photos and videos. You can even turn your head into a dinosaur, a rabbit or a strawberry! Good taste, when you hold us…
While it is possible to take a photo from your smartphone using Google Messages, the camera function integrated into the application is not very developed. Indeed, it only offers a few options, such as activating the flash, choosing between photo and video, or the possibility of zooming. Google is trying to work on this point. Last April, the messaging service integrated Selfie GIF, which allows you to make short three-second videos in order to add a fun touch to conversations. But the company does not intend to stop there! Indeed, “camera effects” had been spotted in the application’s code last February, but these new tools were still under development. Things are progressing well since, as noted 9to5googleGoogle Messages now offers, in the beta version of the application, filters to modify your face, with a dinosaur or rabbit head for example. A bit like what you find on Snapchat!
Google Messages filters: a playful touch in conversations
To take advantage of these tools, simply press the Photo icon in the text input bar in an SMS or RCS conversation and enlarge the frame to full screen. A button dedicated to customization on the left allows you to display the list of different applicable photo filters. For now, they allow you to:
- Remove wrinkles under the eyes;
- Add glasses;
- Add a DJ cap or hat;
- Feel like you’re at the Olympics by transforming yourself into a runner;
- Change your head into a strawberry;
- Playing angels with a panda;
- Completely transform your face into a rabbit or dinosaur.
It is also possible to record a video with the filters. To do this, simply press and hold or switch to video mode, and the chosen filter remains active. 9to5Google notes that almost all of these filters are already present in Google Meet, the Mountain View firm’s videoconferencing software. This is therefore clearly a port of the function to Google Messages.
These filters are currently only available in France in the beta version of the application. You will therefore have to be a little patient before being able to enjoy them in the general public version.
