As Netanyahu spoke at the US Congress, Democrat Rashida Tlaib held up a banner reading “War criminal.”
Highlights from Netanyahu’s statements are as follows:
“I want to thank you. You have given me this honor. We are at a turning point. In the Middle East, Iran’s terror is targeting Israel, the United States. This is not a clash of civilizations. It is a clash of barbarity and civilization. This is a clash between those who glorify life and those who sanctify death. For civilization to win, Israel and the United States must stand side by side. Because when we stand side by side, a very simple thing emerges. That is, we win and they lose. And my friends, I have come to give you this promise today, ‘We will win.’ October 7 is a day that we will remember forever. It happened on a Jewish holiday. It was a sunny day and there was not a cloud. Thousands of Israelis were celebrating. Suddenly, heaven turned into hell. 3,000 Hamas terrorists entered Israeli territory. They killed 1,200 people. Among them were Americans. They raped women. They beheaded men. They dragged 250 people into the dark. Israel took 145 of them home. Most of them were obtained in the operation. On the morning of October 7, the whole world saw the footage of Noan being taken to Gaza on the back of his motorcycle. I spoke to his mother. She had cancer. She made a request. She said, ‘I want to see and hug my daughter one more time before I die.’ We rescued four hostages, including Noah. When Noah was reunited with his mother, his mother’s last wish was fulfilled. Many of the hostage families are here with us. The families of the American hostages are here too. The suffering of these families is beyond words.
I met with them again yesterday. And I promised them this. I said, ‘I will not rest until all the hostages are home.’ As we speak, we are actively working to free the hostages. I want to thank President Biden. He has made great efforts for the hostages. I thank Mr. President for his support for Israel. He sent two aircraft carriers to the Middle East. He made an unforgettable visit to Israel during our darkest hour.
CALL TO THE USA
I call on the US: Give us the tools and equipment quickly, and we will finish it quickly. The war in Gaza can end tomorrow. If Hamas surrenders and releases all hostages. But if they do not, Israel will continue until it destroys Hamas’ military capabilities. This means a complete victory. We will not accept anything less. After defeating Hamas, a new Gaza may emerge. Israel does not want to govern Gaza, but we must have security. Because Gaza should not be a threat to Israel.”
