The Galaxy Ring is a new gadget from Samsung. But if you don’t have a Samsung phone, you’ll have to do without some features. MeinMMO explains what they are.

Which cell phones are generally compatible with the Galaxy Ring?

  • The Galaxy Ring must be paired with a smartphone running Android 11.0 or higher.
  • A Samsung account, the “Galaxy Wearable” app and “Samsung Health” are required. You can get all three apps from the Google Play Store.
  • The ring is not yet compatible with Apple devices, such as an iPhone.

    • In principle, you can use the Galaxy Ring with a fairly up-to-date cell phone. However, you will still have to do without some features.

    What features are included? All basic functions such as step counting, sleep monitoring, heart rate measurement and automatic exercise detection work on all Android devices.

    Which functions are missing? At first glance, AI-specific functions (Galaxy AI) that were introduced with the new Samsung models are missing. All basic functions are included:

  • Energy Score: a Galaxy AI feature that explains how health affects your daily life, with personalized recommendations tailored to your health. The score is calculated using four important factors: sleep, activity, heart rate during sleep
  • and heart rate variability during sleep.
  • Galaxy AI Health Tips: Wellness tips tailored to your specific data and personal interests thanks to the intelligent analysis of Galaxy AI.
  • Find My Ring: Is a specific function of “Samsung Find”, a feature of Samsung devices that allows you to find your other Samsung devices. Similar to Apple’s “Find My”/”Where is?” network.
  • Gesture control: Simple finger gestures that you can use with the ring are not possible without a Galaxy phone.

    • If you want or can do without the functions mentioned above, then the Galaxy Ring could be an option for you if a smartwatch or fitness tracker is too uncomfortable for you.
