Football: Malmö defeated KIaksvik – Berg Johnsen scored two goals

On Tuesday evening, the Champions League qualifiers began for Malmö FF and the Faroese champions KIaksvik were the opposition.

In the 21st minute, Lasse Berg Johnsen fired a cannon outside the penalty area. The ball found the net in the left corner where Klaksvik goalkeeper Mark Jensen could not reach it.

Malmö largely kept the game in the offensive half of the pitch.

When Kiese Thelin missed his position in the 37th minute, Hugo Bolin took advantage of the rebound and scored 2-0 in an open goal.

At the end of the first half, Berg Johnsen stepped forward again and ensured that Malmö could go to the half-time break with 3–0.

– It was nice to just shoot and see the ball go into the goal. When you score a goal why not just keep shooting?, says Berg Johnsen to SVT Sport.

Brawl in the stands

An hour into the match, Busanello kicked a corner for Malmö in front of his own heel. Soon after, the match had to be temporarily interrupted when a fight broke out in the heel.

Arni Frederiksberg solved a reduction for Klaksvik from inside the penalty area. But after a successful corner by Malmö, Sören Riek extended the lead for the sky blue again.

—I think we have opportunities to make both 4-0 and 5-0 but instead their goal comes, that can cause it and the important thing then is not to let one more go and lose the pressure we had. I think we handle it well, says MFF coach Henrik Rydström.

The return in the Faroe Islands is played in a week.

If Malmö wins the double meet, the winner awaits in the meeting between Greek Paok Thessaloniki and Borac Banja Luka from Bosnia-Herzegovina.
