Real estate agency NVM calls on Minister Mona Keijzer of Housing to intervene in the rental housing market “to prevent worse”. The NVM points to the new Affordable Rent Act, by former Minister of Housing Hugo de Jonge, as a reason for the impoverishment of the rental market. This law has given rental properties in the middle segment a maximum rent. Many landlords are therefore choosing to sell the properties. As a result, the supply of rental properties is rapidly decreasing. “The competition has become cutthroat”, says department chair Lana Gerssen of NVM Wonen.
