The release of GTA 6 is still a while away, but since the announcement, fans of the series have been talking about all sorts of details about their beloved franchise. Now the discussion has flared up around a feature that has been part of GTA for ages: exploding cars. Players are hoping that the latest installment will be a little more restrained in this regard.
What about GTA 6?
This is what fans are currently concerned about: On Reddit, a user shows a short clip of several cars crashing down a bridge and exploding with a fireball below in the best Michael Bay style. The gif is captioned: “To be honest, I don’t want this ‘explode on impact’ feature in GTA 6.”
Exploding cars have been a part of GTA since the first game. However, the fact that they fall from great heights and then explode like firecrackers is a more recent phenomenon and one that is not well received everywhere.
The creator writes: “I still hate this today,” and receives a lot of support with hundreds of comments and over 2,600 likes. However, not the entire community is on his side.

“More realism would be nice”
Most players seem to agree that it would be nicer if falling cars didn’t immediately end in an inferno. One person says something like, “I’d prefer a car that lands on its nose to have a small chance of exploding, but a bigger chance of deforming or losing a lot of parts.”
It would be nice to have more realism when it comes to falling cars. GTA 4 did a better job of this than GTA 5 does at the moment. There, cars usually break down slowly before they give up the ghost completely. They only explode directly in special cases.
According to the players, GTA 5 has loaded a bit more action effects to create more noise.
Some users, however, believe that such absurd scenes are simply part of GTA. Since the first game, you have been able to line up cars and trigger chain explosions. “I love explosions in all shapes and colors,” says one user.
And dropping cars somewhere and watching them explode is “strangely therapeutic.” One user writes that he does this with his 6-year-old child and watches the chaos unfold.
