The Democrats will formally nominate their new candidates for president and vice president before August 7, according to the chairman of the party at the national level, Jaime Harrison.

Following Biden’s defection and the likely elevation of Kamala Harris to his replacement in the presidential race, Democrats must formally nominate new candidates for the posts, before the August 19-22 convention.

The nomination will be conducted via video conference with delegates around the United States.
