Officers were called to a disturbance on William Street South in Chatham around 5 pm, police said.

On Sunday morning, the man surrendered himself at police headquarters.

It was released with conditions and an Aug. 20 short date.

Man charged with aggravated assault

A man wanted in connection to an assault on King Street East in Chatham surrendered to police Sunday.

A man with a serious puncture wound was taken to Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on July 6 and is currently recovering at home, said Chatham-Kent police.

The suspect was charged with aggravated assault and held pending a bail hearing.

Motorcyclist injured in crash near Thamesville

Two people were injured in a crash involving a motorcycle and another vehicle around noon on Sunday.

A motorcycle traveling east on Selton Line crossed into the westbound lane and collided with a vehicle between Kenesserie Road and Victoria Road, south of Thamesville, Chatham-Kent police said.

The 48-year-old Windsor man on the motorcycle was taken to a Windsor hospital with critical, but non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The driver of the westbound vehicle went off the roadway and stopped in a cornfield. The driver’s injury was not life-threatening, police said.

Stolen vehicle recovered in Mitchell, local man charged

A Wallaceburg man is facing charges after being pulled over in Mitchell, reports Perth County Ontario Provincial Police.

OPP said following a traffic stop just after 1 am July 10, investigation revealed the vehicle had been reported stolen in the Waterloo Region.

The 32-year-old driver was arrested and during a search of the vehicle, weapons were located, OPP said.

OPP said the man has been charged with possession of property obtained by a crime over $5,000, possession of an identity document, fraudulent concealment, altering/destroying/removing a vehicle identification number and failure to comply with a release order.

The man was held in custody pending a bail hearing, OPP said
