Sweden is one of the favorites in the handball Olympics.
But there is room for improvement.
Now Andreas Palicka points out which Swedish Olympic star he would like to add to the national team – and the answer is really quite clear.
Sweden has its Olympic premiere against Germany on July 27, and there are many who dream of a magical summer for our national handball team. Sweden, together with Denmark and France, has been singled out as the favorite to win gold this summer, and there is nothing wrong with self-confidence.
Big medal hope
After the comeback victory against Egypt last week, Jim Gottfridsson said that the form in Sweden is brilliant, and that the squad goes down with great faith in themselves. The Swedish men’s national team has several championships in a row where they have gone far, and now many hope that they will go all the way.
But if Andreas Palicka, star goalkeeper for Sweden, decides, there is perhaps a little development potential, and perhaps still a little strength is lacking. In a clip on Max, which broadcasts the Olympics, social media, Palicka was asked which Olympic athlete from another sport he would like to add to the national handball team, and the answer was really quite clear.
The tribute – to Ståhl
Palicka said that he would like to bring discus star Daniel Ståhl with him.
– Just straight into the line, says Palicka, and starts laughing himself when he talks about it.
Handball is an extremely physical sport and perhaps Ståhl, with his two meters and over 150 kilos, would be a great asset for the national team.
Andreas Palicka has met Daniel Ståhl himself and was almost amazed by his raw strength.
– I got a bear hug from him once, during the Tokyo Olympics, and it was a strength I’ve never had… He was just happy, but I’ve never felt so small. I just hung up there and fluttered my feet. There is a raw strength there that we could use a lot, says the goalkeeper star.
