The new Spider-Man films with Tom Holland were a huge success for Marvel. No Way Home in particular was Multiverse star power of old Spideys Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield a mega hit that grossed almost $2 billion worldwide.
What united the previous Spider-Man trilogy was its director. Jon Watts directed all of the films and proved himself to be an expert on the friendly neighborhood spider. But what about the planned fourth Spider-Man film in the MCU?
MCU boss Kevin Feige announces that Jon Watts will probably be replaced as Spider-Man 4 director
Spider-Man 4 has not yet been officially announced as a planned Marvel blockbuster. Nevertheless, the plans for it seem to be in full swing in the background. At the current press tour for Deadpool & Wolverine, MCU boss Kevin Feige was therefore asked in the Cinema Blend interview about the Involvement of Spidey’s regular director asked.
But his answer is different than many fans might think:
We love Jon. Jon has made three of the best Spider-Man movies of all time for us. He’s got a lot on his plate now. So we will probably look for someone elsebecause he is busy.
Instead of Marvel, Watts soon as Star Wars director He is directing several episodes for the upcoming Skeleton Crew series. A new film project of his is already in the starting blocks. Watts has directed the entertaining thriller Wolfs for Apple, starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt. The film will be released on September 19, 2024.

Recently there has been speculation about whether Bad Boys 3 and 4 creators Bilall Fallah and Adil El Arbi could be hired as the Spider-Man 4 directing duo. However, there is no official confirmation of this yet.
When will Spider-Man 4 be released in theaters?
Since the film has not yet been properly announced, there is no release date for Spider-Man 4 yet. Before 2026 a release of the Marvel blockbuster is very unlikely.
