Players of Once Human on Steam are struggling with severe lag. The developers have now spoken out and provided an update on this problem.
What’s the deal with the lags? Since the release of Once Human on July 9, 2024, the game has struggled with various problems. There are features that were initially missing and were added after criticism from players. Cheaters are also a problem in the free-to-play Once Human, although the studio has now banned many of them.
The lags, on the other hand, are something that really affects the gaming experience. The developers at Starry Studio know this too. In order to calm the waves of angry players, they have spoken out in a blog post on Discord.

The cause of the lags is known
What do the developers say? About a week ago, the studio promised to address the lag. Since then, however, the situation has hardly improved. The developers have now commented on this on Discord:
We have heard that some players are still experiencing lag issues despite our previous announcement. Rest assured that our team has identified the cause and is working diligently to resolve it. Some players may still be affected, but we want to assure you that we are doing everything we can to resolve this issue, including over the weekend.

The developers also apologize to the affected players for the inconvenience and thank them for their understanding. The developers did not reveal what the exact cause of the lag is. However, they do offer a tip that can be used to reduce the lag until the next patch.
What is the tip? The developers recommend that you install Once Human on an SSD. Compared to HDDs, SSDs are much faster at transferring data. According to Starry Studio, this should automatically resolve some of the lag issues.
So far, problems in Once Human have mostly been solved quickly by the developers. Hopefully, the annoying lags in the game will soon be a thing of the past. Are you struggling with such problems?
