Extreme heat continues to dominate the country. Extremely hot weather, which causes illnesses such as heat stroke, can increase cardiovascular problems in people with heart and lung diseases, as well as cause respiratory tract disorders. Prof. Dr. Servet Altay, who made important statements on the subject, stated that hot weather above seasonal norms negatively affects human health.

DISEASE DANGER IN HOT WEATHER

Stating that hot weather causes health problems such as heart attack, heart failure and rhythm disturbance, Altay warned that especially patients in the risk group and the elderly should be careful.

Explaining that hot weather disrupts the body’s heat balance and directly affects heart health, Altay said, “In the case of air temperatures above 20 degrees, the risk of heart attack increases by 2 percent for individuals over the age of 65, especially for individuals over the age of 65, with each degree of temperature increase. The higher the temperature, the more we see heart attacks. In addition, hypertension and rhythm disorders occur. We can also see negative effects such as brain hemorrhage. Therefore, those with chronic diseases and the elderly will be very careful.”
