Skier Niilo Moilanen’s roller ski run took a harsh turn when he collided with a cyclist. Moilanen suffered several fractures to his face.
Last season, Niilo Moilanen, who consistently scored World Cup points, had a hard time on a roller ski run when he had an accident. Moilanen says on his Instagram account that while on a familiar route, the cyclist came “completely out of his mind” and crashed head-on. In Rytäkä, Moilanen suffered several fractures to his face and jaw, but the helmet protected him from serious injuries.
Moilanen was operated on at Kuopio University Hospital and the fractures have been patched with titanium.
“Recovery is now at a good start and through a short flu season we will come back even harder,” Moilanen wrote and said that he is now focusing on recovery.
