US President Joe Biden has announced that he will not be a candidate in the November elections. Biden has indicated that Vice President Kamala Harris will be the candidate to replace Trump.
The Democratic Party will meet in August to formally nominate presidential candidates, with voting continuing until one candidate wins an absolute majority of delegates.

Harris was born in Oakland, California, in 1964, to a biologist mother who came to the United States from India as a student, and a black father, an economics professor, who came to the United States from Jamaica as a student.
Harris, who studied law at university and was a prosecutor in San Francisco for many years, ran for California Attorney General in 2010. The first black and first female attorney general elected in the state’s history, Harris was re-elected to a second term as state attorney general in 2014.
Harris became the first South Asian and second black senator to enter Congress from California in the 2016 presidential election.
Harris, who was among the Democratic Party’s 2020 presidential candidates, was eliminated in the primary elections. Then, Joe Biden, who won the Democratic Party nomination, announced on August 11, 2020 that he had brought Harris into the race as his “Vice President.”

Harris first made her name known after entering Congress with her reaction to the executive order banning travel to the United States from seven Muslim countries, which former US President Donald Trump signed on January 28, 2017, immediately after taking office.
Harris continued her questioning stance on Trump’s cabinet and senior appointments in 2017, and was elected to the Senate Judiciary Committee in 2018. Harris also played an active role in the Senate investigations into Russia’s interference in the 2016 presidential election.
