The King and Victoria must never do this together

The King and Victoria must never do this together

The Swedish royal family spends parts of the summer on Öland. Recently filled Crown Princess Victoria 47 years which, as usual, was celebrated grandly at Solliden. This week they danced away Molly Sandén’s concert at Borgholm’s Slottsruin, and it seemed that the whole family, including children, was there.

Up on the “balcony”, the royal family can be seen cozying up and dancing during Molly’s concert, in slightly more comfortable clothes than at events.

In the order of succession, the rules for who can become king or queen in Sweden are determined. Since 1973 has King Carl XVI Gustaf sat on the throne. The person who comes after the king in the succession to the throne is Crown Princess Victoria and after that comes pEstelle the rinser.

The person who rules is Sweden’s head of state. She has no political assignments or political influence, but acts as a representative for Sweden.

The Regent’s main task is to visit other countries as well as to host foreign visits to Sweden. Everyone in the royal family makes regular visits to the country’s counties and makes study visits to companies and organizations.

What the King and Viktoria must never do

Since the duties of the regent and the royal family include traveling a lot and often, there is a rule that must be followed by the regent and the heir to the throne specifically for security reasons. In this case the King and Victoria, and in the future also for Victoria and Estelle.

In the latest episode of Aftonbladet’s podcast “Kungligt”, the court reporters talk Jenny Alexandersson and Sarah Ericsson about this following a question from a listener.

The listener wonders if the Crown Princess and Estelle can fly in the same plane, and the answer has a logical but tragic meaning.

“Yes, today they get it, then they fly together. But the day Crown Princess Victoria becomes Queen and Princess Estelle becomes Crown Princess then they will avoid flying on the same plane,” says Sara Ericsson and continues:

“Just as the Crown Princess does not fly in the same plane as the King”.

“If the worst were to happen”

Sara Ericsson tells us that it is a security measure that is taken in order not to break the succession to the throne.

“If a plane crash were to happen, you want to avoid both the regent and the Crown Princess or the Crown Prince sitting on the same plane. It’s simply about securing the succession to the throne,” she says in Royally.
