Violent riots broke out on the west coast of France

In the French city of La Rochelle, farmers and climate activists have clashed with the police, reported on Saturday BFMTV.

According to the media, about a thousand people are currently opposing the construction of massive irrigation basins in the area.

People have been injured in the demonstration. In addition, at least five people have been arrested, the Minister of the Interior by Gérald Darman wrote in X.

Videos of clashes between La Rochelle protesters and riot police were shared on social media on Saturday. One video shows that the clashes have been violent.

About 3,000 police and gendarmes are there. The city authorities urge people to avoid moving in the city.

According to the authorities, several demonstrators have equipped themselves with ammunition and protective equipment.

On Saturday afternoon, the demonstrators were marching towards the city’s port.
