Daughter of French rugby legend co wrote Olympics opening ceremony

The opening ceremony of the Paris Games was co-written by the daughter of this rugby legend.

The opening ceremony of the Olympic Games is an unmissable event of the Olympic fortnight. Spectators and television viewers from all over the world will be closely following the show put on by the Paris 2024 organization and could prove very critical in the event of failure.

To carry out this ceremony, Paris 2024 called upon the theatre and opera director Thomas Jolly, appointed artistic director of the ceremonies. But the latter is not alone since he has surrounded himself with Fanny Herrero, screenwriter, Leïla Slimani, writer, Patrick Boucheron, historian and professor at the Collège de France, and Damien Gabriac, author and playwright of theatre.

Among the names mentioned, we find that of Fanny Herrero, daughter of the legend of French rugby, Daniel Herrero. The man with the white beard and legendary cheekiness is an illustrious figure of the rugby in France and mainly at RC Toulon, of which he is a true legend. He was a player and especially champion of France as a coach in 1987.

His daughter has also embraced an artistic career and it was quite natural for her to accept this project.I grew up in a rugby locker room alongside my father, then in volleyball as a player. My respect and affection for athletes are immense. Since my childhood, as the Olympic Games approach, I have been quivering with impatience and excitement. When I was offered the chance to participate in writing the Paris 2024 Opening Ceremony, I accepted in euphoria to join this table of remarkable and intimidating talents, who have brought me so much during these months of collective work”, explained the screenwriter.

Her CV is obviously not limited to that of a “daughter of”, it is impressive. Fanny Herrero has been a screenwriter since 2006 and has notably participated in the creation ofA French Village (France 3) or even the family series Do not do this, do not do that (France 2).

She is also the creator of the series Ten percent which was awarded the Best Series and Best Screenplay prizes in 2016 by the Association of Series Critics (ACS), the Crystal Globe for Best Series in 2018 and 2019, the Best 52′ Series Prize at the 2018 La Rochelle Festival, and the International Emmy Award for Best Comedy Series in 2021.
