Two films about Johnny Hallyday are currently in preparation. And for each of them, we already know who will play the Boss.

After appearing in the cinema as an actor himself, Johnny Hallyday becomes a fictional character. The Boss will soon be entitled to two biopics which are currently in preparation. One, entitled That I love you is directed by Jalil Lespert, ex-partner of Laeticia Hallyday. The other is directed by Cédric Jimenez (North Bac) and approved by Johnny’s widow. And for these two projects which are being prepared in parallel, two different actors have been chosen.

This is Matthias Schoenaerts, known for his roles in Of Rust and Bone, The Diet or Far from the madding crowdwho will play Johnny Hallyday in That I love you by Jalil Lespert. This feature film will tell in detail the love story between Le Taulier and Laeticia Hallyday. The latter will be played by actress Fantine Harduin (In the Mist, Prometheus).

At the same time, Raphaël Quenard, winner of the César for best male revelation 2024, will play Johnny Hallyday in the “official biopic” directed by Cédric Jimenez. In the columns of Paris-Match, Laeticia Hallyday announced “a film worthy of the rocker and the man I loved madly, sometimes in pain, for twenty-three years”.

Johnny Hallyday’s widow explains that it was by seeing the film Yannick in which Quenard plays the first role that she knew he would play her late husband on screen: “I was bowled over by his acting, his looks, his way of occupying space, of speaking, his spontaneity, his almost animal charisma… I said to myself that if an actor could play Johnny on film, it was him,” she explained.

For now, it is not known when either of these biopics will see the light of day. But Johnny fans can already look forward to seeing two films about their idol soon in theaters.
