At 00:53, the police start receiving several calls about a loud bang in Karlstad.
– We go there and can ascertain that a car has been blown up in a parking lot, says Matilda Borgström, officer on duty at the Bergslagen police region.
The explosion is described as very powerful, according to Aftonbladet.
No one is said to have been injured and the area is now cordoned off by police.
– We have not had to evacuate any nearby buildings.
A preliminary investigation into public-dangerous devastation has been initiated. The National Bomb Squad is on its way to the scene.
