Two men arrested after clash with officers: Chatham-Kent police

Two men were arrested after clashing with officers who were responded to a disturbance call in Wallaceburg on Friday afternoon, said Chatham-Kent police.

Officers arrived at a Water Street address and found a man in distress and while attempting to help him, police said the man tried to barricade himself in a room inside the residence.

Officers were assaulted when trying to intervene and the man also resisted arrest, police said.

A 35-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested for assault, police said.

He was transported to the Sydenham campus of the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance and later released with a short date, police said.

While officers were dealing with this situation, police said a man who also lives at the same residence, obstructed police by attempting to intervene and stop officers from making an arrest.

The man was also found to be wanted on an outstanding warrant for mischief, police said.

A 32-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested for obstructing police and on the outstanding warrant, police said. He was later released with an Aug. 26 short date.

Man facing theft, drug charges: police

A man was arrested after officers were called about a theft incident on Grand Avenue West in Chatham early Saturday morning, said Chatham-Kent police.

Police said a man was seen removing items from a parked pickup truck just before 1 am and officers located him nearby.

During a search of the male while he was being arrested, police said the property taken from the truck was located along with suspected methamphetamine.

A 23-year-old Chatham-Kent man was charged with theft, possession of stolen property and possession of a controlled substance, police said.

It was released with an Aug. 22 short date, police said.
