At least eleven dead in major bridge collapse in China

The bridge collapse occurred on Friday evening and is said to have been caused by flooding and heavy downpour, the state news agency New China (Xinhua) reports.

Five vehicles have been taken out of the water

Rescue efforts were still ongoing on Saturday morning, five vehicles had then been taken out of the water under the bridge. Images from the state television channel CCTV show how a river is rushing over parts of the bridge construction.

On Friday, at least five dead and eight missing were reported in connection with floods and landslides in the city of Baoji in the same region.
