UN: One of the deadliest weeks in Gaza

On Tuesday alone, upwards of 60 people are said to have lost their lives in several Israeli attacks in Gaza. Then, among other things, al-Mawasi was attacked, an area that is supposed to function as a humanitarian zone and which, according to the AP news agency’s sources, was filled with tents with internally displaced persons.

Internally displaced persons were also killed in an attack on a school that Israel’s military claims was harboring terrorists.

War between Israel and Hamas

  • UN Court in The Hague: Israeli settlements are illegal

  • The health situation in Gaza remains acute – more and more people are suffering from malnutrition

  • Since last Friday, Israel has attacked a series of targets in central and southern Gaza in search of Hamas leaders. According to a statement from the Israeli military, half of Hamas’ military leaders have been killed. The military’s figures have not been independently verified.

    Guterres: Nowhere is safe

At the same time, the UN describes how hospitals are struggling to deal with the injured and dead. An employee of the UN aid organization for the Palestinian territories, Unrwa, tells about young children who have received double amputations and are separated from their parents.

“Parents say in despair that they fled into the so-called humanitarian zone in the hope that their children would be safe there,” says Scott Anderson, head of UNRWA to CNN.

After Tuesday’s attack, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned the violence in Gaza and again called on Israel and Hamas to agree on a ceasefire.

“The extreme level of fighting and destruction in Gaza is incomprehensible and unforgivable. Nowhere is safe. Everywhere is a potential death zone,” Guterres wrote on X.
