Brantford, Woodstock get first-quarter OLG payments for hosting casinos

Brantford and Woodstock received almost $1.7 million from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation as first quarter payments for hosting casinos in their cities.

The City of Brantford received $1.2 million for hosting Elements Casino Brantford. Since the gaming site opened in 1999, Brantford has received $102 million.

The OLG paid the City of Woodstock $441,000 for hosting Gateway Casinos Woodstock. Since that site opened in 2001, Woodstock has received $27 million from the OLG.

These payments to host communities are based on a formula in the Municipality Contribution Agreement that is applied across all land-based casino sites in Ontario using a graduated scale of gaming revenue at the hosted site.

Since 1994, host communities have received more than $2.1 billion in non-tax gaming revenue.

Since 2017, casino service providers have invested more than $2.2 billion in private sector capital across the province. These investments have led to the development and opening of seven new casinos, one planned development and numerous casino expansions and non-gaming amenities.
