Urheilu reported on Friday that the top boxer Robert Helenius received a two-year suspension from competition for a doping violation from the British anti-doping organization, UKAD (UK Anti-Doping) and the Finnish Professional Boxing Federation.

In August of last year, Helenius gave a doping sample containing the drug clomiphene in London. The test was taken the day before Helenius and Anthony Joshua match between

Helenius can compete on September 18 in 2025 at the earliest.

Legal director of the Finnish Sports Ethics Center (Suek). Petteri Lindblom got acquainted with UKAD’s decision on Helenius’ competition ban.

Helenius justified the entry of clomiphene into the body by the fact that it came via eggs. However, Helenius was unable to provide sufficient evidence of the origin of the prohibited substance.

– I have understood that there is some kind of scientific fact that a large dose of eggs can produce the substance in question. It will be interesting to see how UKADA has considered whether Helenius has been able to show sufficient evidence. According to the decision, he has not been able to show.

According to Lindblom, the report revealed nothing surprising.

– Here is a rare clear and simple case. It has been a prohibited substance, and it is not forbidden for it not to be so. This is a very simplified standard doping violation.
