The 13th race of the Formula 1 season should be held in Budapest this weekend. 48 hours before the start of the race weekend, the track was still covered in water.

The Formula 1 tour was supposed to land in Hungary during the weekend, but just 48 hours before the start, the track was still flooded with water.

The amount of water has raised the question of whether the race weekend can start as planned.

There has been a storm in Budapest, and the roadway has been completely covered in water at its worst. During Wednesday, heavy rain, hail and storm gusts moved over the track and the pit area flooded.

However, according to the weather forecast, F1 fans can breathe a sigh of relief when thinking about the weekend. The current forecast indicates an increase in temperature and variable cloudiness during the weekend. If the water just drains away, it won’t cause problems for the teams and drivers, instead the heat will be a bigger challenge.

The Hungarian GP should start with free practice on Friday after 14:25 Finnish time.

Red Bull Max Verstappen leads the drivers’ points table ahead of McLearen Lando Norris and Ferrari Charles Leclerc.
