Football: TV profile Olof Lundh critical of Fredrik Reinfeldt’s millionaire fee and assistant at the Football Association

– In order to maintain stability in the conditions for grassroots football and continued talent development, we need to trim the finances in SvFF, said Fredrik Reinfeldt, chairman of the Swedish Football Association, in a statement that the association needs to save money.

Costs more than Karl-Erik Nilsson

Now Olof Lundh states in Sommar in P1 that Reinfeldt costs more than the former chairman.

– Despite the fact that SvFF had a person employed to assist the chairman and general secretary, the association takes half of the costs for Reinfeldt’s personal assistant who worked with him for many years and who is needed to keep track of all his assignments. The former assistant now only helps the secretary general and has been given other assignments, says Lundh and continues:

– The association has taken on an extra cost for Reinfeldt’s sake. Something that strikes against football in times of austerity packages where the association must save SEK 30 million in 2024 alone. Reinfeldt’s own AB, on the other hand, is going strong and had a turnover of SEK 9 million with a profit of SEK 4.5 million in 2023.

Lundh also tells how Reinfeldt took out his entire fee for being full-time chairman, even though he sits on seven other boards. Then he compares it to the former chairman, Karl-Erik Nilsson, who halved his fee after he was elected to UEFA’s executive committee.

The association confirms the assistant solution

Olof Lundh states in his summer talk that Reinfeldt cannot be reached for a comment regarding this, while the football association has given him this answer:

“Reinfeldt has continued to work with his assistant since he took over as chairman. To some extent through his company and to some extent as part of his role within SvFF. The person in question also supports others within SvFF with various administrative parts that are within the framework of the strategy we have to work efficiently and cost-consciously moving forward.”
