Police arrested two more men on Tuesday. The first, Amos Momanyi Mogusu, was arrested outside a Nairobi bar, according to a statement from the Directorate of Criminal Affairs. Once again, investigators were able to trace him back to the mobile phone of one of the victims, Roselyn Akoth, because the suspect was in possession of the device.

The second person arrested is Moses Ogembo, a resident of Mukuru who sold the phone to the first. At his home, investigators found 154 mobile phones. During interrogation, Moses Ogembo admitted to having bought several second-hand smartphones from Collins Jumaishi Kalusha, the main suspect in this case.

In a statement, the Criminal Investigation Department said it had found new incriminating evidence in his apartment. Among them: a pillowcase and a T-shirt as well as tools such as a hammer, a pair of pliers, knives and scissors, all stained with blood.

Since his initial confession, Collins Jumashi Kalusha has nevertheless changed his version of events. On Wednesday, before the Makadara Court, which was to decide on his pretrial detention, his lawyer stated that Collins Jumashi Kalusha’s confession was obtained under torture. This did not prevent the judge from adding 28 days of additional detention.

Finally, the bodies found in the quarry are not linked to the demonstrations of the past weeks, according to government spokesman Isaac Mwaura. For the latter, who is trying to silence the suspicions of civil society that continues to follow the case, the 10 bodies found in Kware ” are linked to femicides and not to political assassinations “.
