A “registration crisis” has emerged in the Turkish automobile market

New fees for compulsory traffic insurance have been announced

There has been a “registration crisis” in the Turkish automobile market. The reason for this is the implementation of EU safety regulations.

In My Economy According to the news signed by Aysel Yücel, thousands of people in Turkey are currently unable to receive the vehicles they paid for. The EU’s safety regulation GSR II, which came into effect on July 7 for imported vehicles without national type approval, has created a registration crisis in the automotive market. At ARTES (Vehicle Registration and Record System) due to technical problems, sold vehicles cannot be entered into the system and cannot be delivered to their owners. Sector officials stated that brands were granted an exemption of 10 percent of their sales last year during the GSR II transition and that there were problems with the registration of these exempt vehicles. According to the information provided, the ministry wants applications to be made with a list based on chassis and to be registered in the system. Gülan Otomotiv Board Chairman Alp Gülan, who is a dealer for Nissan, Renault, Dacia, Fiat, Peugeot, Opel and Citroen, states that both dealers and consumers are suffering in this regard.
