It was in April that the 37-year-old met another person who gave him a bag that turned out to contain 4.9 kilos of amphetamine.
The 37-year-old hid the bag in a bush in Stadsparken and came back a while later to collect it, but the police who spied on the man had already seized the drug.
Flees from the police – throws himself into the water
When the police decide to arrest the 37-year-old on the spot, he runs and jumps into the water near Kalmar Castle.
He swims over to a nearby island. There the man is arrested by the police.
Denies organized crime
The 37-year-old has admitted drug offenses by having taken up a position with the drugs. However, he has denied that the handling was part of an organized crime.
The district court, however, determines that the crime was part of a crime that was carried out in an organized manner.
The man – who was previously convicted of, among other things, serious drug offences, serious weapons offenses and serious assault – is sentenced to six years in prison.
