No more digging through your conversations to chat with your favorite contacts in WhatsApp! The app finally has a new, very practical feature that was highly anticipated.

WhatsApp is such a convenient instant messaging service that we can easily find ourselves having dozens, if not more, of conversations at the same time. Between exchanges with our loved ones and group chats, we can quickly become overwhelmed and get lost in the thread of the many conversations! However, there are people with whom we chat more than others – sometimes daily – so much so that it would be practical to always have them on hand.

Until now, it was not possible to quickly access a specific contact. You could only pin a conversation and then tap on the profile picture of the contact in question to display the option to call them. A process that unfortunately proved tedious and time-consuming.

But that’s soon to be history! WhatsApp is gradually rolling out a new “Favorites” filter on the stable version of the application, on both Android and iOS – all you need to do is update. A new feature that is as anticipated as it is practical, so much so that we are entitled to wonder why it is arriving so late…

So, the “Favorites” filter now appears at the top of the main “Chats” tab, along with the “All”, “Unread” and “Group” filters, and “Calls”. Contacts marked as favorites benefit from quick call options for audio and video calls, unlike recent calls which only allow you to repeat this type of call. To add conversations to favorites, you must either select the “Favorites” filter in the “Chats” tab, or tap “Add to favorites” in the “Calls” tab, or go to the “Favorites” section in the settings.

This shortcut will save you valuable time, especially in urgent situations or when you need to reach specific contacts frequently. It’s much faster than having to search for the contact’s name in the search bar or having to scroll through conversations until you see their name.
