All important changes for Ultimate Team – That’s why your friends are now really important

There are a few changes to Ultimate Team in FC 25. Co-op gameplay with your friends will be particularly worthwhile. We’ll introduce you to all the important changes.

Like every year, the most popular mode in EA FC is undergoing some changes. In addition to some innovations in terms of gameplay, menu content and game modes, EA’s focus this year was on connecting players with each other.

Why do your friends become important in FC 25? EA is introducing two important changes in FC 25 Ultimate Team (UT) that should make two co-op modes with your friends really worthwhile:

  • Rush introduces a 5v5 mode, which you will also find in Ultimate Team. Here you can play against other players on a small field with up to 3 other friends.
  • For the first time this season, there will be a cross-season pass for Clubs and Ultimate Team, meaning you can unlock Ultimate Team rewards in Clubs with your friends.
  • So if you have at least 3 teammates together by the start of FC 25, it could really pay off for your rewards in Ultimate Team.

Play with friends and get rewards for UT

How do you get Ultimate Team rewards through co-op? In the two co-op modes Rush and Clubs, you earn points by playing and completing various tasks. When you reach a certain number of points, you unlock new rewards.

The two reward systems differ slightly from each other:

  • In Rush, you earn coins as well as so-called Rush Points. Once you have collected enough Rush Points, you can exchange them for rewards in the Ultimate Team menu.
  • In Clubs and Ultimate Team you earn experience points (XP) directly for the overall season pass. Once you have earned enough XP, you reach new levels. With each new level you unlock 25 rewards for Clubs or Ultimate Team in FC.
  • You can even use Rush to further advance your evolutions. We have explained what evolutions are here: EA Sports FC 24 lets you upgrade cards in Ultimate Team with “Evolutions” – How it works

It is not yet known what exact rewards you will receive for Rush Points. Possible options include bonus packs or experience points for the season pass.

The season pass rewards in FC 24 ranged from club items to pro packs to one-off special pro cards.

There are also some changes to the gameplay, menu content and individual game modes. You can see all the new features known so far below.

    Gameplay

EA is introducing a new technology in FC 25 that is designed to make players and tactics even more individual. EA has summarized these gameplay adjustments under the umbrella term “FC IQ”.

  • Player Roles: With the Player Roles, EA is attempting to make the game without the ball more individual. Players try to fill certain roles and adapt their running paths accordingly when creating chances and when moving backwards.
  • More tactical variety: In FC 25 you can have even more influence on your playing style. More formations and even more instructions for each individual player should make this possible. You can then even simulate your cobbled together tactics before the game.
  • If the tactics are too complicated for you, you can simply let one of the best managers, like Pep Guardiola, coach your club. If you add him as a coach to your Ultimate Team, you will play according to his tactical concept, as you know it from the Manchester City team.

    Menu content

When it comes to menu content, EA has tried to take the feedback from the community into account. This has resulted in two major innovations so far.

  • Separate storage for duplicates: There will be a separate list for all duplicate cards. You can then refer to this list directly when you want to hand in the duplicate players in a Squad Building Challenge (SBC).
  • Revised Evolutions: In the evolutions you can transform normal cards into special cards. In FC 25 there will be even more options for this feature. This also includes the ability to help design the look of the cards with different styles and sounds.
  • Game modes

Two game modes will also be adjusted: matchmaking in friendly matches and the reward system in Division Rivals.

  • No skill-based matchmaking in the friendlies: In FC 25, the friendly matches could be much more relaxed again. The skill-based matchmaking, which in FC 24 looked for opponents from the same division, no longer works in this mode.
  • New system for better rewards in Rivals:
  • For every win AND every draw you get points to reach certain rewards, thus eliminating the pointless draws in Rivals.
  • Fewer checkpoints are intended to prevent you from getting stuck at one point and thus allow you to find opponents more fairly at the same skill level.
  • Promotion games in the highest divisions are introduced.
  • Greater differentiation of rewards in the different ranks and divisions.
  • The improved points system and reduced checkpoints are designed to increase the fun of the game. The promotion games and the sharper differentiation of rewards aim to reward the best players with the best rewards.

This gives you a rough overview of the most important changes for Ultimate Team this year. Over time, more details on the points mentioned and other aspects will probably be announced.
