Just in time for the summer blockbuster, cheap movies are back at downtown London’s movie theater.

Imagine Cinemas announced on Tuesday the return of “Cheap Tuesday” movie tickets. On Tuesdays going forward, it will cost $5 to get in and all concession items will be priced at $5 or less.
In addition, Imagine is knocking back the price for early movie showings every day – the ones that start before 6 pm – and will charge $8 per ticket. An evening movie ticket on any day but Tuesday costs $14.
“Cheap Tuesdays has been a beloved tradition among our bosses and we’re excited to bring it back with even greater value,” Gina Facca, chief operating officer at Imagine Cinemas, said in a statement.
“In these tough economic times, we understand the importance of providing affordable entertainment options for our community. We believe in making high-quality entertainment accessible to everyone and these new pricing options reflect our commitment to our community and movie-lovers everywhere.”

In London, Imagine Cinema is at 355 Wellington St. in Citi Plaza. It’s the lone movie theater downtown.
Movie attendance across Canada has been weak to date this year with cinemas not seeing a Barbie-like blockbuster to bring in the crowds, the Canadian Press has reported. In fact, Canada’s largest cinema chain Cineplex Inc. posted a loss of $9 million in its fourth quarter, it reported in February, compared with a profit of $10.2 million a year earlier.
“The entertainment business faced several unique factors, including lengthy Hollywood strikes that threatened the movie release schedule,” Canadian Press reported.
Box office revenue per boss was $12.90, down from $13.06 a year earlier.
But movie theaters are also eyeing soon-to-be-released films that may yet draw bigger crowds this year, including Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim, Twisters and Mufasa: The Lion King, to name a few.
