Suspected cyanide poisoning at Bangkok hotel – six dead

Food, drink and six dead Vietnamese were found in the hotel room.
The police suspect that the people who were found dead at the luxury hotel Grand Hyatt Erawan in Bangkok were poisoned by cyanide – and that the perpetrator is among them.

When check-out time passed on Tuesday, a cleaning lady went up to the hotel room. There, six dead people were found scattered in the living room and bedroom.

Four of them were Vietnamese citizens, the other two Americans of Vietnamese origin.

A married couple, together with two others in the gang, had invested the equivalent of three million Swedish kronor to build a hospital in Japan.

The suspicion: Took the coals on everyone – including himself

Relatives of the persons have testified that there was a dispute about debts between them. According to the police, the group may have called a meeting to discuss it – and they suspect that one of the six dead poisoned them all with cyanide, the police confirmed at a press conference on Wednesday.

All of them must have had purple lips, which indicates a lack of oxygen. The room was locked from the inside and there were no signs of physical violence. However, the police do not want to go out with which of them is the suspect.

Cyanide in all bodies

After an initial autopsy, cyanide has been found in the blood of all six. The poison has also been found on drinking glasses and in a teapot.

Photos released by the police also show food and canned goods in the room, but it is unclear if there was cyanide there as well.
