At the heart of a controversy following a very bad joke from one of his colleagues, Jack Black wanted to react and took a radical decision.
These are words that have not gone down well. Actor Jack Black’s music group has been at the heart of controversy for two days. During a concert given on Sunday July 14 in Sydney, the singer of Kung Fu Panda brought a birthday cake to Kyle Gass, a member of his satirical rock band Tenacious D (who recently covered Baby one more time For the movie Kung Fu Panda 4), who was celebrating his 64th birthday.
So far, nothing shocking. Except that when it came time to make a wish before blowing out the candles, Kyle Gass replied: “Don’t miss Trump next time!” This remark about the former American president, who was shot just the day before in the middle of a rally and injured in the ear, while the attacker and a member of the audience died, was captured in a video by the public and then relayed on social networks.
While Jack Black is not the one behind this outburst, the actor is nonetheless taking the brunt of the cost on social media. Donald Trump supporters have expressed their outrage on social media, with some even believing that this is a legitimization of political violence, or even murder.
As a result, Jack Black responded on Instagram on Tuesday, July 16: “I was blindsided by what was said on stage Sunday night. I will never condone hate and will never encourage political violence in any form. After careful consideration, I do not believe it is appropriate for Tenacious D to continue touring, and all future creative endeavors are on hold. Thank you to the fans for your support and understanding.” The band will therefore not continue their tour in October, and it is therefore unclear what the future holds for the rock band.
