EIB: 22 million euros for the expansion of the University of Camerino campus

The EIB will relax rules to finance more defense related projects

(Finance) – Support the expansion, renovation and modernization of the University of Camerino campus, aligning it with the highest modern standards of teaching, learning, research and environmental sustainability. These are the main objectives of thefinancing agreement worth 22 million euros signed between the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the University of Camerino. In detail, the project includes the construction and renovation of over 11,000 square meters of academic and administrative space, as well as the creation of 110 new beds additional for students.

As for the environmental sustainability, The interventions financed by the EIB will follow the highest standards of energy efficiency and also include the development of a photovoltaic park for the supply of renewable energy, helping to make the Camerino Campus more energy autonomous.

Thanks to the financing agreement announced today, the Total EIB financing to Italian universities over the last 10 years exceeds 710 million euros. Furthermore, this project is part of the financing program for Italian public universities, launched in 2022 by the Bank for a total of 500 million euros, and intended to support investments for the construction, renovation, expansion of academic, research, sports facilities and university residences.

The centre will have a strong positive impact on the area and will constitute, together with three other laboratories built in other regions of the earthquake crater, a network of research infrastructures that will contribute to the socio-economic recovery of central Italy. Students have always been at the centre of our actions and being able to guarantee them, in addition to excellent training and teaching, also high-quality services including accommodation, ensuring its sustainability, is a source of great satisfaction for us”.
