Videos from the scene show the bus hanging diagonally in front of the mouth of the tunnel, wedged between the asphalt and the cement edge of the tunnel. The gold-lacquered sheet metal is hinged and the driver’s hood is gaping open. About 50 textile workers were on the bus, on their way to a factory located about an hour north of Barcelona. The accident happened near the coastal town of Pineda de Mar, writes ABC News. The bus must have driven up the sloping edge of the tunnel, until its front got stuck at the top of the hill. Both the rescue service and the police are on the scene and they are now investigating what caused the accident. According to the authorities, three people are seriously injured, two of whom were first taken to hospital by helicopter and a third had to go by ambulance. A further six people are said to have received less serious injuries and are being treated in hospital. The C-32 highway was closed to all northbound traffic.
