Japanese media reports that a boy brought the chips to school as a “fun thing”.
He had eaten them before and thought they were super strong himself.
A total of 30 students were offered the chip – a type of curry chip – of which 14 were forced to go to hospital after they started to feel unwell and had a sore mouth.
Needed a wheelchair
All were conscious but at least one student required a wheelchair.
The manufacturer of the chips states on its website that people under 18 and those with high blood pressure should not eat the chips.
One of the world’s strongest
The chili fruit Naga Jolokia – also known as Ghost Pepper or ghost bite – is one of the ingredients.
It ranks as one of the hottest chilies in the world at 1,001,304 degrees on the Scoville scale, which is used to rate the perceived heat of foods.
