Notify the gendarmerie or the police station The first thing to do when you go on holiday is to have your accommodation monitored by the police or the gendarmerie. Their services offer “Operation Tranquillité Vacances” during school holiday periods. This service is free. All you have to do is fill out a application form available on the gendarmerie website, and drop it off at the police station in your town, indicating your holiday dates. The police will come and do surveillance patrols in front of your home day and night during this period to check that everything is going well and thus ensure the protection of your home. This will not prevent burglaries, but it is a good prevention system.
