US $ 1.6 billion F-16 sale to Bulgaria

US 16 billion F 16 sale to Bulgaria

In a written statement made by the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency, it was noted that the sale of 8 F-16 C / D Block 70 aircraft and related equipment, with an approximate value of 1.6 billion dollars, was approved to Bulgaria.

“WE WILL NOT CHANGE THE POWER BALANCE IN THE REGION”

In the statement that a notification was sent to the Congress regarding the approval of the sale, it was stated that the sales package included 4 F-16C Block 70 and 4 F-16D Block 70 warplanes, as well as spare engines and other support equipment to be used in the said aircraft.

State Department approvals for arms sales simply mean that the sale is not an issue for the US administration.

If the US Congress does not object to the Department’s decision within 30 working days, the administration starts negotiations with the country where the sale is approved for the content of the sales package.

At the end of these negotiations, the USA offers a letter of offer to that country. If the offer receives a positive response, the procurement process takes place. (AA)
