The American consumer organization Consumer Reports has tested 50 electric cars on the market in 2024.
This has resulted in a list of the 14 best electric cars on the market in 2024.

Rated on a 100-point scale
Consumer Reports ranks cars with an overall rating on a 100-point scale, where aspects such as driving experience, expected reliability, customer satisfaction and safety are taken into account.
The electric cars are also ranked in categories such as range, quality, comfort and performance.

BMW iX is the best electric car in 2024
Judging from the list, the best electric cars on the market right now come from Germany and South Korea, and more specifically from the BMW Group and the Hyundai Group.

The model with the highest rating, which can therefore be considered the best electric car in 2024, is the BMW iX with 84 points out of 100. Hot on the heels comes the Hyundai Ioniq 6 and the BMW i4 with 83.
Next come the two models EV9 and EV6 from Hyundai’s sister brand Kia, with 78 and 77 points respectively.

Worse than expected for Tesla
Other models on the list from the Hyundai group are the Genesis GV60 in seventh place and the Kia Niro in eleventh place, with 75 and 71 points respectively.
The first car on the list that doesn’t come from BMW or Hyundai is the recently updated Porsche Taycan with 76 points.

The world’s best-selling electric car Tesla Model Y qualifies in ninth place in the list with 72 points, which can be considered unexpectedly low.
Models from Lexus, Audi, Nissan and Ford also figure in the top 14 list.
